Shikishi is een stevig karton met wit aquarelpapier dat afgewerkt is met vergulde randen. Bekende Japanse schrijvers en kunstenaars maken werk op dit verfijnde aquarelkarton. Behalve schilderijen en met aquarelverf worden de ook gebruikt voor Sumi-e, Japanse kalligrafie. De kalligrafen schrijven er ook dan met inkt en penseel teksten en symbolen op. 

Het White Ibis-aquarelpapier van Holbein is gemaakt van 80% hoogwaardig katoen in een hoogwaardige cellulosepulp. Met een hoog gewicht van 300 g/m² is het speciaal bedoeld voor aquarelschilderijen en alle andere natte technieken zoals inkt, gouache, acryl en viltstiften.

Het papier heeft een medium fijne structuur.

Shikishi is a stiff cardboard with white watercolor paper decorated with gilded edges. Renowned Japanese writers and artists create or compose their signatures on it. They also write down poems, maxims, or quotes from classical poetry taken from Chinese or Japanese books. In Japan, cards with a writer's signature are given to other people or organizations on the occasion of more or less formal meetings.

Shikishi is also often a gift for an employee retiring. Such original cards are highly valued and carefully stored to gain antique value over the years. Usually, such signatures or pictures are displayed on a wooden stand or a special kakemono scroll on which Shikishi is attached.

Holbein's White Ibis watercolor paper is made from 80% high-quality cotton in a high-quality cellulose pulp. With a high weight of 300 g/m², it is dedicated to watercolor painting and all wet techniques such as ink, gouache, acrylic, and markers.

The paper has a medium fine texture.
