De Faber-Castell polychromos staan bekend om hun fantastische kwaliteit. Ze zijn dan ook geliefd bij vele professionele kunstenaars en artiesten. Wat de polychromos zo uniek maakt is hun 3.8 mm dikke kern op oliebasis. Het grote voordeel van kleurpotloden op olie basis is dat zij een diepere kleurafgifte hebben. Daarnaast heb je niet, zoals bij veel potloden op waxbasis, dat er een 'oliewaas (waxbloom)' over je tekening komt als je met (te)veel lagen werkt. De kleurafgifte is onder meer zo goed omdat er minder bindmiddel nodig is en er dus meer pigment in het potlood gebruikt kan worden. Door de dikke kern zijn de potloden robuust en breekt de kern niet snel. Ook zijn de potloden makkelijk te slijpen en blijven ze relatief lang scherp in verhouding met andere kleurpotloden.

Deze set komt in een luxe houten kist. De kist heeft twee lagen en kan gesloten worden met sluitklippen. Bevat daarnaast nog 2 Faber Castell grafietpotloden, een gum en een speciale puntenslijper.

What makes Polychromos pencils so unique is their 3.8 mm thick oil-based core. The big advantage of oil-based coloured pencils is that they have a deeper colour payoff. In addition, unlike many wax-based pencils, you don't get an “oil haze” (wax bloom) over your drawing when you work with (too) many layers. The colour rendering is so good because less binder is needed, allowing more pigment to be used in the pencil. The thick core makes the pencils robust and prevents the core from breaking easily. The pencils are also easy to sharpen and remain sharp for a relatively long time compared to other coloured pencils.

This set comes in a luxurious wooden box. The box has two layers and can be closed with clips. It also contains 2 Faber Castell graphite pencils, an eraser and a special sharpener.
