Miscanthus — ook wel bekend als Olifantengras — is een grassoort uit Zuid-Oost Azïe. Je kunt het vergelijken met riet — maar dan supergroot — of bamboo. Het wordt vaak aangeplant in Nederland en is een milieuvriendelijk alternatief voor het maken van papier.

Of je nu werkt in droge technieken, zoals (kleur)potlood, houtskool, (vilt)stiften, markers, (olie)pastel en inkt. Of in natte technieken, zoals acryl en gouache. Of in mixed-media — het kan allemaal op dit veelzijdige papier!

De combinatie van de witte kleur en de spikkels van de plantenvezel is prachtig en het geeft grafisch werk extra diepte. En de licht ruwe korrel laat de specifieke karakteristieken van de verschillende pigmenten optimaal uitkomen.

TIP! Dit papier geeft soft pastel een extra dimensie: het pigment hecht zich aan de aan de grasdeeltjes, waardoor ze kleuren opnemen en opgaan in het geheel.

Miscanthus - also known as Elephant Grass - is a species of grass from South-East Asia. You can compare it to reed - but super-sized - or bamboo. It is often planted in the Netherlands and is an eco-friendly alternative to making paper.

Whether you work in dry techniques, such as (coloured) pencil, charcoal, (felt) pens, markers, (oil) pastels and ink. Or in wet techniques, such as acrylic and gouache. Or in mixed-media - it's all possible on this versatile paper!

The combination of the white colour and the speckles of plant fibre is beautiful and it gives graphic work extra depth. And the slightly rough grain shows off the specific characteristics of the different pigments to their best advantage.

TIP! This paper gives soft pastel an extra dimension: the pigment adheres to the grass particles, so that they absorb colours and merge into the whole.
